Image or Symbol. Depictions of Animals on Archaeological Artefacts

The exhibition presents the animal species depicted on various artefacts from the museums Department of Archaeology. These depictions can be highly stylized and the animals are sometimes hardly recognizable. The majorityof the depicted animals – whether in full size or just with their tipical atributtes, such as the horns of a ram, the head of a snake, etc. – was part of the everyday life of the people of that time. The forms of individual archaeological artefacts and depictions of animals symbols, which carry aspiritual message, can be associated with the ritual and spiritual life of our ancestors.
