Vladimir Lamut 100 years

10. 12. 2015 – 03. 09. 2016

Venue: Jakčev dom
The exhibition is open from 10. december 2015 to 3. september 2016

With this exhibition, the Museum of Dolenjska is paying a tribute to the memory of the artist Vladimir Lamut. Among the broader Slovene public, the artist Vladimir Lamut is not as renowned as he deserves, despite the fact that even before his tragic end he was considered a local legend and still is an epitome of an artist in the area of Novo mesto. Due to his sad, melancholic temperament and tragic personality, he is deemed »the Van Gogh of Dolenjska«.
The exhibition represents a decent overview of the artist’s works throughout the entire course of his tumultuous life, from the first serious attempts in his academy days to the fateful 11th March 1962. It features all the techniques and ways of artistic expression Lamut used in his creative work. The exhibition has no large or noticeable gaps in content and chronology that would cause any lover of his works to feel deprived in one way or another.
